Jason Wilmot
Creator of StumbleCast
My name is Jason Wilmot. I live in Austin, Texas with my wife and two kids. I was born in Toronto, raised in Kalamazoo, and spent 10 years of my life living in Bermuda.
I love software and build it professionally. I build things to make life easier — and StumbleCast started the same way all my projects do: a problem I couldn't stop thinking about.
I'm a podcast fanatic, but I was frustrated. Every podcast app I tried was great at playing shows I already knew about, but terrible at helping me find new ones. Discovery felt like work — endless browsing, reading descriptions, sampling episodes that didn't click. I missed the feeling of turning on the radio and stumbling into something unexpected and brilliant.
I wanted that serendipity back. The joy of hearing something you never would have searched for. The surprise of a voice or a story that grabs you out of nowhere. Radio had that magic, but it disappeared when everything became on-demand.
So I built StumbleCast. It treats podcasts like radio stations — you pick a genre, and it plays. Swipe to change the station. Swipe to shuffle the episode. You drop in at a random point, just like tuning in live. If it hooks you, keep listening. If not, swipe again. No algorithms trying to predict what you want. Just pure, unfiltered discovery.
Your feedback, advice, and encouragement is always welcome. I can be reached on email at jason@stumblecast.com.
