Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 28, 2026
TL;DR — We don't want your data. StumbleCast is built on the belief that a podcast app doesn't need to know anything about you. We don't track what you listen to, we don't build a profile on you, and we don't feed your habits into an algorithm. Your listening experience is yours alone.
This policy applies to the StumbleCast website and our applications for iPhone and any other devices and platforms.
What We Collect
Almost nothing. Here is the full list:
IP Addresses
When you visit our website or make requests to our servers, your IP address may be captured in temporary server logs. These logs exist solely for security and operational purposes (e.g., preventing abuse) and are automatically purged on a regular basis.
Purchase Information
If you purchase StumbleCast Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple shares a purchase receipt with us so we can unlock your Pro features. We store only the information necessary to verify your purchase — we never see or store your payment details, billing address, or credit card number.
Account Information
You may create an optional account using Sign in with Apple or phone number verification. We store a unique user identifier and, if applicable, your phone number for authentication. We do not store your Apple ID email or password.
Phone Number
If you sign in using phone number verification, we collect your phone number solely for authentication purposes via our auth provider (Supabase). We do not use your phone number for marketing or share it with third parties.
What We Don't Collect
This is the important part. We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your listening history or episode progress
- Your playlists, favorites, or subscriptions
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Contacts or any other personal information
All of your podcast data — episodes, listening activity, preferences — is stored locally on your device and never leaves it.
No Algorithms, No Profiling
We don't use algorithms to decide what you should listen to. We don't build listener profiles. We don't analyze your behavior. Any recommendations in StumbleCast come from human-curated sources — never from tracking what you do in the app. Your taste is yours, not ours to monetize.
No Cookies or Tracking
We don't use cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology. We don't use third-party analytics services. When you use StumbleCast, nobody is watching.
User Accounts
StumbleCast offers optional accounts for features like cross-device sync. You may create an account using Sign in with Apple or phone number verification. We store a unique user identifier and, if applicable, your phone number for authentication. We do not store your Apple ID email or password. An account is never required to use the core app.
Third-Party Services
Hosting Providers
Our website and infrastructure are hosted by the following providers, which may process basic technical information (such as IP addresses) as part of delivering their services:
- Apple — Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare — Privacy Policy
Authentication
If you create an account, authentication is handled by Supabase — Privacy Policy. Supabase processes your sign-in credentials (Apple identity token or phone number) to authenticate you.
Google Cast SDK
If you cast audio to a Chromecast device, the Google Cast SDK may collect device information (device name, local network info) to facilitate the casting connection. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Podcast Content
StumbleCast downloads podcast episodes directly from each podcast's third-party servers. These providers maintain their own privacy policies, and we have no control over their data practices.
Platform Integrations
CarPlay
StumbleCast supports Apple CarPlay for in-vehicle playback. CarPlay integration uses Apple's native frameworks and does not collect additional data beyond what is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Local Network Access
StumbleCast accesses your local network to discover Chromecast devices for audio casting. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
How We Use Information
The limited information we do have (IP addresses, purchase receipts, and account credentials) is used solely to:
- Deliver and maintain the StumbleCast website and apps
- Authenticate your account, if you create one
- Verify StumbleCast Pro purchases
- Protect against abuse and security threats
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone. There are no ads in StumbleCast, and there never will be. We make money from StumbleCast Pro — not from your data.
Legal Disclosures
If compelled by law, the information we could provide is limited to IP addresses from server logs, App Store purchase records, and account identifiers (user ID and, if applicable, phone number). We do not possess any other personal data to disclose.
Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, any information we hold may be transferred. We will notify users of any such change and update this policy accordingly.
Security
All communication with StumbleCast is encrypted over HTTPS. Since we store almost no personal data, the surface area for a data breach is minimal by design. The best way to protect your data is to never collect it in the first place.
Your Rights
Because we collect so little, there is very little to request access to or delete. If you have questions about what information we may have associated with your IP address or purchase, contact us and we will respond promptly.
Regulatory Compliance
California (CalOPPA / CCPA)
We comply with California privacy laws. We do not sell personal information. We do not distribute your information to third parties without your consent.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 13, and no part of StumbleCast is designed to attract anyone under 13.
European Union (GDPR)
By using StumbleCast, you authorize us to process the minimal information described in this policy. Because we collect almost no personal data, our GDPR obligations are limited — but we take them seriously. You may request deletion of any data we hold about you at any time.
International Data Transfers
Information may be processed and stored outside your country of residence. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may apply depending on where data is processed.
